"Ode to The Foodie" A Poem By: Jules

Ode to the Foodie…

As I walk down the isles of the Italian Delicatessen I cant help but feeling…is this heaven? And if God were in town today…I am sure I would find Him here…for how could anyone resist the sweet smell of cured meats and the salty tang of cheese and the rows of goodies piled high from capers to artichoke hearts to sundried tomatoes

I can taste the peppered salami and hear the crunch of the rustic ciabata bread now…

Oh how my senses are dazzled…Oh how my mind it whirls…and my face how it lights with sheer delight as I hear someone say free samples today!

With a cart ready to fill I rush to the table and tantalize my taste buds with olive oils from Naples. But wait there’s more when to my surprise I see a café next-door selling cannoli’s and more! I don’t want to leave this heavenly place but I realize I must soon go, so I pick up the pace. Adding pine nuts, dried mushrooms and herbed goat cheese too, I head to the check our counter with so much to do. As she hands me my bag full of products galore I take one more glance and rush out the door. I hop into my car and roll down the window hoping to pick up the slightest hint and aroma of the deli I’ve left behind. With joy in my heart I run to my kitchen so thrilled and excited to see what’s for dinner!

*Authors Note…This poem is dedicated to all those Foodies out there who would rather be in the Deli roaming the isles of imported and local goods than anywhere else! I love you…this blog has been created for you! Remember the world needs your zest for life and your creativity and love of that which we all consume each and every day and cannot live without…FOOD!
